The metal–insulator transition in the paramagnetic Hubbard Model

چکیده
We study the Mott transition in the Hubbard Model within the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) approach. The DMFT equations are solved using the density matrix renormalization group technique. The densities of states for the half-filled and heavily doped cases are shown. The full phase diagram is also presented. r 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 71.10.Fd; 71.27.þa; 71.30.þh

Zero Temperature Metal-Insulator Transition in the Infinite-Dimensional Hubbard Model
The zero-temperature transition from a paramagnetic metal to a paramagnetic insulator is investigated in the dynamical mean field theory for the Hubbard model. The self-energy of the effective impurity Anderson model (on which the Hubbard model is mapped) is calculated using Wilson’s numerical renormalization group method. Results for the quasiparticle weight, the spectral function, and the sel...
متن کاملPressure - temperature phase diagram of generalized Hubbard model with correlated hopping at half - filling
In the present paper pressure-temperature phase diagram of a generalized Hub-bard model with correlated hopping in a paramagnetic state at half-filling is determined by means of the generalized mean-field approximation in the Green function technique. The constructed phase diagram describes metal-to-insulator transition with increasing temperature, and insulator-to-metal transition under the ac...
متن کاملThe Mott-Hubbard transition and the paramagnetic insulating state in the two-dimensional Hubbard model
– The Mott-Hubbard transition is studied in the context of the two-dimensional Hubbard model. Analytical calculations show the existence of a critical value Uc of the potential strength which separates a paramagnetic metallic phase from a paramagnetic insulating phase. Calculations of the density of states and double occupancy show that the ground state in the insulating phase contains always a...
متن کاملImpact of magnetic frustration on the Mott transition within a slave-boson mean-field theory
We investigate the paramagnetic-metal-to-antiferromagnetic-metal and antiferromagnetic-metal-toantiferromagnetic-insulator transitions using a slave-boson mean-field theory. To this effect, we discuss the ground state of the half-filled Hubbard model as a function of t8/t and correlation strength U, where t and t8 are the hopping amplitudes between nearest and next-nearest neighbors, respective...
متن کاملPressure-induced metal-insulator transition in LaMnO3 is not of Mott-Hubbard type.
Calculations employing the local density approximation combined with static and dynamical mean field theories (LDA+U and LDA+DMFT) indicate that the metal-insulator transition observed at 32 GPa in paramagnetic LaMnO3 at room temperature is not a Mott-Hubbard transition, but is caused by orbital splitting of the majority-spin eg bands. For LaMnO3 to be insulating at pressures below 32 GPa, both...
